For investors who were affected by the $HAWK collapse, Welch had previously provided a link to contact Burwick Law, one of the firms representing plaintiffs in the ongoing civil lawsuit against the token’s creators https://gamble-online-aus.org/.

“Half of those people that done it were, like, my fans. They trusted me, like, guiding them to it. And I don’t know … It really hurt my feelings when it turned out the way it did. I wish it hadn’t have happened.”

Scott Armstrong was reacting to online comments by Welch, an internet personality, after the crash of the Hawk Tuah memecoin, which lost more than 95 percent of its value in a single day when it was launched on December 4. A memecoin is a type of cryptocurrency that is typically launched on the back of a popular internet meme or recurring joke.

Instead, they planned to distribute free tokens to social media followers and fans who have purchased her merchandise. Forster mentioned that Welch will own 10 percent of the supply, but she will be unable to sell any of it for a year.

The plaintiffs’ attorneys, Wolf Popper LLP and Burwick Law, filed a complaint in which they claim that the defendants used Welch’s celebrity status to create “a speculative frenzy that caused the Token’s market value to spike shortly after launch, reaching a significant market capitalization.”

But earlier this month, disaster struck when Welch released $HAWK, a cryptocurrency based on her valuable personal brand. Such crypto assets, known as “meme coins,” are known as volatile investments, and tend to trade according to the boom-and-bust cycles of the online phenomena that inspire them. Welch’s coin, developed by partners running a foundation out of the Cayman Islands, spiked in value when it debuted only to crater within hours, plummeting more than 90 percent from a market cap of nearly $500 million to under $30 million.

The choice to go after Welch’s collaborators rather than the self-described “Queen. of Memes” herself suggests what many observers have already assumed: that she played no meaningful role in how $HAWK was conceived or distributed, serving merely as a face to market the token. As Coffeezilla reported, Welch had received an up-front payment of $125,000 to promote the coin to her community, along with 50 percent of net trading proceeds after operating costs paid to third parties. This is in addition to owning 10 percent of the entire $HAWK supply, which she cannot sell for a year. Whether those stakes will amount to anything is anyone’s guess.

Let’s say that a company creates Stablecoin X (SCX), which is designed to trade as closely to $1 as possible at all times. The company will hold USD reserves equal to the number of SCX tokens in circulation, and will provide users the option to redeem 1 SCX token for $1. If the price of SCX is lower than $1, demand for SCX will increase because traders will buy it and redeem it for a profit. This will drive the price of SCX back towards $1.

It has been speculated that Vitalik Buterin was behind the initial liquidity that helped set up Shiba Inu’s liquidity on Uniswap. According to Ryoshi, he had “a fren” he met at Devcon in Osaka that sent him 10 ETH to set up the liquidity pair on Uniswap. Ryoshi also stated that Shiba Inu was an experiment in decentralized community building, and he thus declined all the influencer requests and pitches from different exchanges he received. His “job” is to defend the brand and give suggestions, although he does so very sparingly, as his last blog entry dates back to May 2021.

While looking to expand the utility of SHIB, the development team introduced a metaverse — a virtual reality project powered by non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Here, users can mint parcels of digital lands using ETH or its equivalent amount in SHIB tokens.

The burn address Vitalik Buterin used to destroy 40% of the SHIB supply is an outlier, but the next biggest wallet holds 6% of the supply (60 trillion SHIB), followed by two wallets with over 3% and another pair with over 2%. Thirteen wallets in total have more than 1% of the total supply.

The launch of Shibarium is seen as a major milestone for the Shiba Inu ecosystem. It is expected to reduce the cost of transactions on the Shiba Inu network, make it easier to build decentralized applications (dApps) on the network, and attract new users to the ecosystem.
